Tommy Thompson and Kyle Williams Commit To Division 1 Mercyhurst for 2011-2012 season.

The Northern Cyclones are pleased to announce the commitment of ‘90 Forward Tommy Thompson (Londonderry, NH) and ‘91 Defenseman Kyle Williams (Bowdoinham, ME) to the Division 1 Mercyhurst Lakers for the 2011-2012 season. Thus far, Thompson has displayed his tremendous offensive ability in his first season with the Northern Junior A Cyclones, posting 27 points in 26 games. He will be looked upon even more as an offensive threat to opponents in the second half of the season and into the playoffs.

“I am excited for the opportunity to play under Rick Gotkin at Mercyhurst, I want to thank Coach Bill and my family for their support and the help achieving this lifelong dream,” said Thompson.

While Thompson displays his offensive ability on the ice, Williams holds down the blue line and continues to be one of the Cyclones’ top defensemen.

“I am extremely humbled and excited to be joining such a great hockey program at Mercyhurst in 2011. I would like to thank both Coach Bill and Coach Joe Flanagan for their relentless support and guidance through this whole process. I am truly grateful, and it’s an unbelievable feeling to know my hockey dreams are coming true as a member of the Mercyhurst Lakers. I’m looking forward to the remainder of this season, and next season, as a proud member of the Northern Cyclones,” said Williams.

“We are excited for Tommy, Kyle and their families. Rick Gotkin and his staff at Mercyhurst have an excellent program and we are proud that both boys will be wearing their jersey in the future,” said Head Coach Bill Flanagan.
